Were you on time or late?

Welcome back to Cecil’s World in Print. Did you remember to set your alarm clock ahead one hour Sunday morning? I sure hope so. If not, you were in trouble with the boss when you got to work Monday morning. Being an hour late does not sit well with management.
Now, if you are retired, don’t worry about it. Just set the clock whenever you get around to it. Now, if you are really retired, just throw the clock out the window and do what you want to whenever you feel like it. On second thought, you might need that clock to wake up and watch Cecil’s World.
Now, how many of you woke up at 2 a.m. and set your clocks like our government recommends? Please do not tell me anyone actually did that. I set mine back, before I went to bed. Now we’re going to have an extra hour of daylight after we get home from work. I don’t know about you, but this is my favorite time of the year. By the middle of the summer, it will still be light outside at 9 p.m. I can’t wait.
What did you do last weekend? I had a great time. I attended a high school reunion. It was a weekend of remembering and talking about those good old high school days.
St. John’s High School’s reunion was held last weekend at Fat Harold’s Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach and, let me tell you, some of my old school buddies can really shag. It was a lot of fun to see so many people I had not seen for years.
Have you ever noticed how old some of the people are at class reunions? I thought that was true until I looked in the mirror. I then realized I had changed, but it was not so obvious because I see myself every day. For my friends, it was a sudden change because I had not seen some of them for nearly 25 years.
As time goes on and the older we get, there seems to be fewer people attending class reunions. This is a part of life we have to accept because we are all getting older and we will continue to lose our friends to Father Time. But I can truly say I enjoyed seeing all my former classmates, and we had a good time.
I think I will try and keep in touch with some of my friends after this class reunion because you never know if you will be here for the next one. I would like to say one thing to everyone who made this weekend’s St. John’s High School reunion a big success: Thanks for the memories and I hope I can make it to the next one.
Today, I will be in Florence at Roger’s Bar-B-Que for Florence County Disabilities’ annual fundraiser. This is a great event. Last year, they raised $56,500 to assist individuals with special needs. The benefit will be held at Roger’s Bar-B-Que in Florence from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., the Schoolhouse Restaurant in Scranton and First Baptist Church of Johnsonville.
Local celebrities will be servings as waiters at all three locations.
A couple of the celebrities serving will be Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone and coroner Bubba Matthews at Rogers Bar-B-Que, along with personalities from WBTW News13 and WPDE Channel 15. News anchor Bob Juback and I are hoping you will come out and enjoy some great barbecue and support a great fundraiser.
I hope to see you today at Roger’s Bar-B-Que, and I’ll see you next week, right here in the Morning News and on the tube.
