Smith-Maxwell
Rachel Anne Smith and Christopher Lawrence Maxwell were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at South Florence Baptist Church in Florence. The Rev. Jeffery Allen officiated.
Rachel is the daughter of Ms. Mary M. Henry of Florence and Mr. Mikell K. Smith of Savannah, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Jo W. Maddox and the late Mr. R. Wilton Maddox Jr. of Augusta, Ga., and Ms. Diane K. Smith and the late Mr. Arthur E. Smith of Savannah, Ga. She is a graduate of Lakeside High School in Evans, Ga., and Georgia Military College in Martinez, Ga. She is employed with CSX Transportation as a transportation clerk in Florence.
Christopher is the son of Ms. Elizabeth K. Maxwell of Lamar and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore “Tripp” L. Maxwell III of Florence. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow K. Kirby of Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore “Ted” L. Maxwell Jr. of Florence. He is a graduate of West Florence High School and attended Florence-Darlington Technical College. He is employed with Superior Machine of Florence in the Field Service Division.
Given in marriage by her father, Rachel chose Miss Michelle Allen, her friend, of Florence to serve as her maid of honor, and Mrs. Leslie White, her friend, of Augusta, Ga., to serve as her matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Miss Natalee Leslie, friend of the bride, of Hiram, Ga.; Miss Kirby Maxwell, sister of the groom, of Florence; Miss Evan Maddox, cousin of the bride, of Roswell, Ga.
Junior bridesmaid was Miss Kendall Maddox, cousin of the bride, of Evans, Ga.
Christopher chose his father, Mr. Tripp Maxwell, to serve as his best man.
Groomsmen were Mr. Michael Medina of Effingham, Mr. Glenn Hill of Timmonsville, Mr. Kevin Collins of
Florence, Mr. Larry Duke Jr. and Mr. Brad Duke, both of Lamar, all friends of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church’s fellowship fall.
The newlyweds honeymooned on a cruise to Jamaica and will reside in Florence.
