S.C. Book Festival kicks off Friday in Columbia

The S.C. Book Festival will kick off Friday and run through Sunday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

The festival features authors from throughout the nation, as well as the Carolinas, speaking and signing their books.

The keynote speaker for this year’s festival is Scott Turow, author of seven best-selling novels, including “Presumed Innocent,” which was made into a film. He will speak Sunday at 12:45 p.m. in the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center Ballroom.

Also featured in the event will be several authors from the Pee Dee region.

Poet Dr. Phil Bowman will read from his work Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Carolina Meeting Room.

Senator Ernest F. “Fritz” Hollings will speak Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Richland Meeting Room

Eugene N. “Nick” Zeigler will speak along with Jack Bass and Scott Poole Saturday at 11:20 a.m. in Lexington Meeting Room A.

Historian H. David Stone will speak along with Robert Alderson and Kincaid Mills Sunday at 3:10 p.m. in Richland Meeting Room C.
