Lamar to host inaugural Carfest on Oct. 3

Lamar will play host to Carfest from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3 in cooperation with the Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce and the Lamar Special Events Committee.
Cars will be showcased downtown along the Railroad Avenue corridor adjacent to Main Street. This is expected to become an annual event.
“This event will be a platform for all the local car enthusiasts to display their vehicles in a public setting,” Mayor Bobby Hudson said in a press release. “As mayor I appreciate all the sponsors to the event and look forward to the area residents coming out to enjoy the classic cars that will be here in town.”
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Lamar Volunteer Rescue Squad.
“As chair of the Lamar Special Events Committee and town councilman, I feel this event will be a drawing card for the town,” Randy Reynolds said in tjhe release. “The businesses will be open to accommodate the people and we look forward to having everybody in Town come out for the experience.”
