South Carolina Sweet Potato Festival this Saturday

The 26th annual South Carolina Sweet Potato Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Darlington Public Square. A variety of foods, entertainment, more than 100 vendors, an antique car show, raffles throughout the day and of course South Carolina sweet potatoes will all be a part of the festival.

Byerly Foundation seeking concept letters for grants

The Byerly Foundation is accepting concept letters for the first cycle of grant funding of the 2008/2009 year through Oct. 30, 2008. The foundation board will review the proposals and will begin awarding accepted grants during December.

Judge voices safety concerns over Darlington family court facility

More district schools fail to meet federal standards

Despite recent gains on the PACT standardized state achievement test, fewer Darlington County public schools met federal achievement goals in 2008 under the No Child Left Behind Act.
