Founder of new Grand Strand Chamber of Commerce steps down from Board of Directors

The Grand Strand Chamber of Commerce held its regularly scheduled board meeting at the Chamber office Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 10:00 a.m.
During this meeting Ward Shepherd, founder of the Grand Strand Chamber of Commmerce, announced he was stepping down from the Board of Directors effective immediately to focus on his company Citywide Wi-Fi. Shepherd however plans to continue working in cooperation with the Grand Strand Chamber to assist small businesses and to promote job growth in the area.
The Grand Strand Chamber of Commerce supports Shepherd’s plan to move forward with the implementation of wireless internet throughout areas of the Grand Strand, as a service to businesses and the community-at-large.
The Grand Strand Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to promote job creation and economic improvement of the Grand Strand area by encouraging the most effective use of both private and public resources. The Chamber strives to support the Grand Strand businesses by listening to their needs and ideas, helping in every way possible to promote the growth, profitability, partnership and alliance opportunities, and stability of those businesses.
The Chamber works to support community events and to provide a common voice on issues to local, state, and national governing bodies, always keeping in mind that their purpose for being is to serve small businesses and their employees.
The Grand Strand Chamber of Commerce is located at 2701 North Kings Highway, Suite 2, Myrtle Beach.
The Chamber serves businesses within Horry and Georgetown counties, SC and Brunswick County, NC.
