SCANPO to offer workshop in Myrtle Beach

The S.C. Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) is offering a Governance Workshop/Best Practices Series from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at Chapin Memorial Library, 400 14th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach.Published: November 20, 2007
The cost for SCANPO members $75; for non-members, $125.
The event is the second of seven half-day workshops in a new training series designed specifically to help nonprofits implement the recently issued Guiding Principles & Best Practices for South Carolina Nonprofits. It will cover the practices essential for responsible and ethical board leadership, including the role board members play in making policy, defining strategy, serving as responsible stewards, and promoting the nonprofit in the community. Participants will have a chance to assess their current level of practice and acquire the skills and tools to take immediate action to improve their board’s effectiveness.
Presenter Charles Weathers is the President/CEO of the Weathers Group, a capacity building firm specializing in organization, leadership and resource development. He earned a Bachelors of Science from Southern Illinois University, is a Certified Grants Specialist, Certified Pastoral Care Counselor and a graduate of Leadership Columbia.
