Today the Market Common officially opened to the public. Market Common is a retail, residential and business development located on the old Air Force base in Myrtle Beach. 

A special celebration to mark the occasion featured live performances from bands and members of the Carolina Opry. Governor Mark Sanford, along with other state and local leaders were on hand to celebrate the grand opening.

Many people came out in the rain to check out the stores and restaurants. Some were locals, and others were visitors like Rita Watts from Charlotte. She was very impressed by what she saw, she told News13, “We will be back every time we come to Myrtle beach. There’s no doubt about it. There’s a lot to see… a lot of shopping… it’ll be great!”
