FBI warns about Valentines email virus

Be careful of Valentine’s Day e-cards, they may contain a Storm Worm virus. The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a warning to be on the lookout for emails spreading the Storm Worm.

The email tells the recipient to click on a link to retrieve the card. That’s when the malware (malicious software) is downloaded to the computer and infects it with the virus. It’s part of the Storm Worm botnet. A botnet typically facilitates criminal activity such as spam email, identify theft and the spread of malware.

The Storm Worm has capitalized on various holidays in the last year sending millions of emails.

Be wary of any email receive from an unknown sender. Do not open any unsolicited email and do not click on any provided links.
