The official opening of the Hard Rock theme park in Myrtle Beach is months away, but thousands of people were at the park Saturday afternoon hoping to become part of the hard rock family.
The two day job fair brought people from all over to the theme park.
Kerry Graves, Vice president of marketing and sales said they are looking to hire up to three thousand employees, and that would make them the second largest employer in Horry County.
Flora Kelly, who lives in Myrtle Beach, said, “I’m retired and just am ready, I would like some part-time work.”
Jason McClellan said he came to Myrtle Beach just to work at the park.
“Why not, it's the beach, you know I lived in the mountains of North Carolina for all my life, thirty-five years, and I was ready for a change so I moved.” McClellan said.
Graves said they're looking for people with the right vibe and the right fit for what the hard rock experience is supposed to be.
“The right fit's just being yourself, that's what we're all about, not putting you into a box but just letting you express yourself and being a lot of fun.” said Graves.
However, Graves said they are not taking people who just consider this to be another job, which is a paycheck because that's not what this is, working at the park isn’t just a job, it’s an experience, it’s hard rock.
Many of the hundreds of hopeful Hard Rock employees, like Garry Holder, standing in the long line, said working at the theme park is the job of their dreams.
“I’ve been a hard rocker for thirty years, I ain't lettin' up now, I’m going to be part of this, whatever it takes if it's just ridin' that Zepplin' 24/7, I’m game," said Holder.
