McClatchy reports 4Q loss on newspapers’ decline
Newspaper publisher McClatchy Co., publisher of the Myrtle Beach Sun News, reported a $21.7 million loss for the fourth quarter on Thursday, reflecting the declining value of its newspapers, and said it plans deep cost cuts this year.
Dillard’s sales slip in January

Pawleys feeling economic crisis
The current national economic crisis is showing its effects in the resort town of Pawleys Island. Due to a reduction in Accommodations Tax (A-Tax) revenue in 2008, Pawleys Island Town Council has agreed to help the Pawleys Island Civic Association (PICA) pay for advertising to bring in more visitors next year.

Georgetown workers set to return to steel mill

Direct Air announces additional service to Myrtle Beach
Direct Air Friday announced the start of new air service, beginning early March 2009, from Kalamazoo, Mich.; Toledo, Ohio; Rockford, Ill.; and Worcester, Mass. Direct Air has been working with the airport authorities and community organizations since summer 2008 to provide air service from these four new markets into Myrtle Beach.
