Lake City High School recognizes athletes

Lake City High School held its annual Athletic Banquet on Thursday in the Lake City High School gymnasium. The speaker for the event was Coach Pete Strickland. Lake City High School Principal Kasey Miles Feagin and Lake City Mayor Lovith Anderson Jr also gave remarks.

The awards given were:

  • Varsity girls basketball: Most improved — Nakeisha Cooper, coach’s award — Shanice Cooper, most valuable player — Alisha Graham, Rookie Award — Sherina Singletary
  • Junior varsity girls basketball: Coach’s award — Amber Cooper
  • Varsity boys basketball: Leadership award — Desmond Haygood, sixth man — Willis Flowers, rebounding award — Corey Baker, Panther award — Dayshawn Butler, most improved — Jeremi’ McCrea
  • Junior varsity boys basketball: Hustle award — Kevin Adams, most improved — Arthur McKenzie
  • Varsity baseball: Best offense — Shane Miles, best defense — Shon Carson, most valuable player — Reggie Weatherford
  • Junior varsity baseball: Best offense — Jordan Hanna, best defense — Hunner Smith
  • Varsity softball: Best all around — Leah Fleming, defensive player — Chelsey Holmes, offensive player — Jelisa McFadden
  • Junior varsity softball: Coach’s award — Courtney Garris
  • Wrestling: Most improved — Damien Kennerly, rookie of the year — Rayquan Brown, Iron Man — Tyson Cooper
  • Varsity soccer: One team award — Chris Hutchinson, leadership award — Charles Crosby, All Heart Award — Denio Taylor
  • Junior varsity soccer: Most valuable player — Alex Luna
  • Varsity football: Offensive lineman of the year — Domanic Wilson, offensive back of the year — Shon Carson, defensive lineman of the year — Donquille McElveen, defensive back of the year — Sheldon Robinson, coach’s award — Shonquez Nelson, captain award — Desmond Haygood
  • Junior varsity football: Offensive player of the year — Terrell Gamble, defensive player of the Year — Bryce Thomas
  • Boys tennis: Most dedicated — Jack Alexander
  • Girls tennis: Most dedicated — Jennen Wells
  • Golf: Most valuable player — Jordan Casey, coach’s award — Matt Elmore, most improved — Damius Green
  • Boys track: Most improved — Porshea Brown, best in field — Domanic Wilson, leadership award — Stevenson Gaston
  • Girls track: Most improved — Ashley Williams, best in field — Chanel Hanna
