Ninth-inning homer helps Gastonia past Florence

FLORENCE — Randolph Oduber’s two-run homer in the ninth inning helped Gastonia to a 3-1 win Thursday over Florence at American Legion Field.

Oduber’s homer made a winner out of starter Roberto Jeroszko , who pitched a complete game. Jeroszko (2-1) struck out eight and allowed seven hits in the victory.

David Haselden (1-3) went the distance and took the loss. He allowed three earned runs on eight hits and struck out eight.

Center fielder Zach Caldwell led Florence (13-13) with two hits, including a solo homer in bottom of the first inning.

Shortstop Tyler Burnett also had two hits for Florence.

Oduber and David Chester led the Grizzlies (11-12) with two hits each.
