HEMINGWAY - Brittany Owens gave up six runs off nine hits, striking out three and walking three as the Lady Bears beat Lamar 9 – 6, Thursday night in the first game of the district 6 playoffs.  Whitney Baxley had a double and a single.  Carsen Cagle had two singles and an RBI.  Scottie Stone added an inside the park home run. 

The Lady Bears traveled to Academic Magnet on Saturday, May 2nd , for a nail-biter.  In the top of the ninth, Toni Cribb scored from third on a wild pitch to put Carvers Bay up by one.  Ariel Graham caught a fly ball to right field to seal the win, 3 – 2.  Whitney Baxley had two hits, Scottie Stone had one hit.  Brittany Owens picked up the win, pitching all nine innings.  Owens gave up one run off four hits, and struck out four.

Academic Magnet traveled to Carvers Bay Wednesday night to decide the winner for district six.  Carsen Cagle had a double and two singles.  Whitney Baxley had a triple with two RBI’s.  Brittany Owens struck out the side in the seventh to secure the win 4 – 2.  Owens gave up two runs off five hits, walked two and struck out eight.

“The girls have really come together and played as a team,” credits Head Coach Rory Owens, referring to the success his team is experiencing in the playoffs.
