Harry Carson, the nine-time Pro Bowler, two-time linebacker of the year and NFL Hall of Famer, almost never got his career started.

The Florence native quit after his first football practice in seventh grade. But after sitting out a year, Carson came back the next fall and made the team at Wilson High School and a legend was born.
