Hemingway’s Tashan Fredrick signed a National Letter of Intent recently to play basketball at Tennessee State University.
Fredrick averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals a game last season in helping lead the Tigers to the Class A state championship game.
“I felt like their style of basketball was a fit for me, because it’s mostly the same type of things we do here,” Fredrick said. “They like to press and run, so I felt like that would be a good place for me.”
Fredrick was considering other schools, including S.C. State, USC Upstate and N.C. State, but felt Tennessee State was the best choice for him.
“I liked the campus and I liked the coaches and it just felt right,” Fredrick said.
Fredrick also played football before suffering a shoulder injury this season.
Tennessee State competes in the Ohio Valley Conference and is 2-2 so far this season.
