The Hartsville girls’ golf team made the trek to Myrtle Beach on Wednesday for the Region 6 AAAA golf match.

The ladies came home with the region championship.

Hartsville defeated Carolina Forest by nine strokes, according to head coach Alison Furia.

Claire Brown, Cameren Kinsley, Amy Grant and Allison Burch represented the Lady Foxes on the course, and all of the ladies finished the day with personal best scores and a final team score of 370.

Claire Brown led the Lady Foxes and the match with a 78.

“I am proud of the effort the girls put forth this season,” Furia said.

“This effort was shown in their improved scores. We are excited about our region win and look forward to the state tournament.“

“ Our goal is to finish in the top 10 at state,” the coach added. “If we continue playing like we played at the region tournament that is an achievable goal.”

The team will now prepare for the state tournament. The tournament will be played at Lexington Country Club on Oct. 20-21.

The team is not allowed to have any official matches between the region and state tournaments, Furia said earlier, but they will be practicing.
