Florence voters report Election Day ballot mix-ups

Election Day may be over, but several Florence County voters are coming forward and saying they received the wrong ballot while at the polls on Tuesday.
One of those people is Dave Hemmingsen.  Hemmingsen said he lives in Florence County, just off of Claussen Road. 
When he received his ballot Tuesday morning, however, he said it was a city ballot.  That means he was able to vote on several important races and issues, including the Sunday alcohol sales referendum.
“I immediately thought, wow, what a messed up election.  If we can’t get even our city stuff straight, how many more elections would be contested on those basis?”
News13 took these concerns to Interim Florence County Elections Director Steve Love.  Love said after the June primaries, his agency worked closely with the E-911 department to try to straighten out some of these issues.
He said if indeed there were problems, it can be attributed to human error or confusion over where the city limits are located.
