LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Make Social Security solvent

» 1 Comment | Post a Comment

When a person makes $102,000 in a year the deductions stop. I don’t think this is fair to the middle and upper-middle class, I think every worker should pay Social Security taxes on all they earn every year. Furthermore, in South Carolina you can by a vehicle, no matter what it costs and only have to pay $300 sales tax; these two taxes are tax loopholes for the wealthy. There are probably many more that the common person doesn’t know about. My point is for the Republicans, if you would speak out on these injustices, you might see better results at the poll booth.

Right on the nose M.C. But in spite of insolvency looming ever nearer, the howling for more pork grows louder. SS has been killed by ridiculous so called entitlements. In the beginning benefits were only paid to those workers who had paid into the system. That group [ paying workers] is probably a minority now, or close to being so.
