LETTER TO EDITOR: South Carolina can no longer afford Sanford’s ‘quirkiness’
Published: July 3, 2009
The people of South Carolina knew after Gov. Mark Sanford’s first term that he wasn’t capable of leading this state progressively and raising our status publicly, but like Bush, they re-elected him anyway. Now once again through his shenanigans, he has embarrassed the state, put his personal business before his constituents and left us vulnerable. Leaving the state unattended was reprehensible and unforgivable. We can no longer afford this governor’s “quirkiness.” If Gov. Sanford has the state’s best interest in mind, then he should do the prudent thing and resign immediately while he still has some dignity. We deserve so much more than he has given us.

I cannot speak for Southern Ladies..but THIS born and reared Southern woman would forgive…but STAY? Not a chance.
Forgiveness may be noble and right but one does not have to stay with her man to forgive. I would rather keep my own dignity.
Please tell me if one of you Southern Ladies would stay with your man, if he announced that he met his soul mate, but will try to fall back in love with his wife?????
Let me tell you one thing, he would be packing so fast his head would spin.
The only reason he is trying to get back with his wife is because she has all the money.
Pray tell, if the people of SC KNEW that Mark was unfit for Governor, tell us WHY said people would vote him in. While i agree he made a critical error, possibly one leading to impeachment, i think most of the people of this State voted for him for the same reason i did. He was a good Rep. in DC, and most agreed with his stance against big brothers intrusion into our lives. I suspect some dislike him for refusing to smooch the circus in DC that has run us all into the ground.
for the same reason i did.
Mark Sanford still has some dignity?
