The South Carolina Employment Security Commission, in cooperation with Sen. Gerald Malloy and other area legislators, will team up on Saturday, August 15, 2009 to help Pee Dee area workers find jobs.

Representatives from the Florence Workforce Center and several other Pee Dee area South Carolina Employment Security Commission offices will hold a job forum from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Building 300 on the Florence-Darlington Technical College campus, located at 2715 W. Lucas Street, off Florence-Darlington Highway.

SC Employment Security Commission employees will meet individually with anyone seeking work, and assess their needs. The forum is intended to connect job seekers with local employers that are hiring and to give them a chance to receive free advice on their careers or further education.

South Carolina’s unemployment remains one of the highest in the nation with a rate of 12.1 percent in June. The Pee Dee area has been hit especially hard in recent years with a number of layoffs, especially in the manufacturing sector.

The job forum will have information about jobs available through the SC Employment Security Commission’s Job Link Internet job site. Job seekers will be able to conduct online or manual job searches on site.

For further information, contact Tre Tailor at the South Carolina Employment Security Commission at 803-737-0072.
