The man who police say opened fire on a group playing basketball in Hartsville on Sunday night, killing one man, is out on bond in connection with another shooting.

The most recent shooting happened at 7:50 p.m. Sunday at the Landmark Inn on South Fourth Street in Hartsville.

A group of men were playing basketball in a court behind the inn when they got into an argument, Chief Tim Kemp said. One of the men then pulled out a gun and began shooting.

Police said Monday they are looking for 17-year-old Darenzo Trevon Graham, also known as “Ghost,” to question him in connection with the crime.

It’s not clear whether Graham had been involved in the basketball game, Kemp said. There was a crowd at the hotel and witnesses reported a disturbance, then gunfire.

Two men injured in the shooting were taken to the hospital Sunday night.

One of the victims died Monday from a gunshot wound he suffered. He was identified by Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee as 25-year-old Forrest Lenn Royall Jr. of Hartsville.

The other victim, identified as 24-year-old Michael Leon Jefferson, 24, of Hartsville, was to be taken to a Florence hospital for additional treatment, Kemp said Monday.

Police also saw marijuana through a window of one room at the hotel and, as result, secured a search warrant to seize it, Kemp said.

A vehicle also was stolen during the same time frame, the chief said.

Darlington County Detention Center booking reports show Graham had been granted bond Nov. 13 for a charge of ssault with intent to kill.

Hartsville police say Graham is accused in that case of shooting at a man through his home on Eighth Street in Hartsville. Investigators had to search to find him after the incident and later located him in Chesterfield County.

Hartsville police are again asking the public for its help to find Graham.

Anyone with information on these crimes or Graham’s whereabouts is asked to call the police department at (843) 383-3013 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.

I also agree, when a judge makes such a call as was made here, the judge should be held accountable also.
Such decisions are made far too often.
I stated in an earlier post, this is happening now in Williamsburg county. Baggett will soon be released with time served on a murder charge. He in essence is getting away with just one more offense, this one being violent murder. Anyone who knows him or of him, know his reputation and what he is really like. But he will soon walk as a free man. It doesn’t matter the son’s, the grandchildren, the parents, sisters of the deceased will never have a chance with their loved one.

I agree, why is everyone held accountable for their decisions except for judges?  They continue to let these thug types out of jail.  Law enforcement can only arrest, after that it is in the judges hands to set an appropriate bond.

The judge should be responsible for everything the subject does if they let them out of jail. The judge should be sent to jail for the subject’s actions.

It would be interesting to know what dollar amount of bail this goon was out on. His bail bondsman isn’t going to be happy. Check Ed Robinson’s house, that’s probably where he is hiding out.

this comes as no surprise they always let people out of jail on attemted murder charge on bail or bond only to have to arrest again for murder at a later date ,when will the system learn that he who walks around with a gun does have intentions of using it at anytime on anyone and he should have been left in jail the first go around. but here is another person dead because he was let out after already trying to kill before.

The only thing seperating a shooting from a killing is the grace of the Almighty. If judges would set a bond appropriate to “Attempted Murder” in these cases instead of treating it like it was merely an “assault with aggravating circumstances involving the use of a firearm”, then people might have to sit their @$$es in jail until a trial. If a Murder charge gets you a million dollar bond, then why not attempting to do the same thing getting you a HALF million dollar bond? This guy got a second chance after trying to kill, and this time it looks like he suceeded. This is the opposite of justice, and the opposite of how our system of justice is supposed to work.

Some people are just no damned good. Evidently this guy is one of them. How many more people will he kill before he is captured?
