Armed robber strikes out at Florence business

FLORENCE—Investigators are looking for a man who tried to rob an Irby Street business Sunday afternoon, Maj. Carlos Raines, Florence Police Department, said.

The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. when a man walked in the Dollar General store and stayed about an hour, Raines said.

After asking for a job application the man , who appeared to have a gun underneath his shirt, demanded money from the cashier.

The cashier refused to give him any money and the man left the store, he said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5”- 5” tall and in his forties . He was last seen wearing a beige shirt and khaki pants, Raines said.
