Florence Regional Airport will receive $386,067.76 for a new explosive detection system to improve security, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn’s office.

The money comes from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds for explosive detection systems and advanced technology X-ray units that will streamline baggage screening and enhance security capabilities at airports nationwide.

The award represents a portion of the first dollars spent out of a total of $1 billion made available by ARRA for the Transportation Security Administration.
