Another Sun Fun Festival happened today, this time, in Surfside Beach. Even though this one isn’t as large as the one held at the Market Common last weekend, people still got to enjoy plenty of free activities.

The event kicked off with a volleyball tournament at the beach. Face painters and play areas kept some kids busy while vendors selling jewelry and other merchandise attracted the adults.

“When you have two little ones activities add up quite quickly and this is just a perfect opportunity for us to get out and enjoy the weather a beautiful day and some family fun,“ said mom of two Monica Hoffman.

“All the activities at this event are free and of course in these hard economic times free is best so we think of course that would definitely drive a lot of the numbers to come out today and of course the weather doesn’t hurt either,” explained festival director, Amie Lee.

This was Surfside Beach’s first ever Sun Fun festival.

Organizers say they expected to see five to ten thousand people attending the festival.
