The Second Annual Black Creek Christmas Shoppe is on track to open Thursday, Dec. 4, with an opening reception.

Caroline Atkinson, who agreed to be in charge of the event again this year, said, “It is hard to believe that Christmas is already here again. It seems like yesterday I was taking down my tree. I always heard that when the holidays run together that is a sign of old age. I love the holidays, so old or not, I am getting ready. One thing I am excited about this holiday season is the Second Annual Black Creek Christmas Shoppe. We had a terrific turn out last year and are looking forward to an even better attendance this year. We are featuring 10 artists who will be selling their creations.”

The opening reception will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Dec. 4, at The Black Creek Arts Center, which is located at 116 W. College Ave.

Al Haynes will play Christmas music to keep everyone in the holiday mood.

Holiday decorations will be provided by Sweet Peas.
Refreshments will be served by the Women’s League.
“If you are unable to attend the Thursday evening reception, do not fret, as Friday the gallery will be open for business from noon until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.,” Atkinson said
.
Artists will include:
John Herth – hand carved wooden decoys of ducks and fish
Suzanne Muldrow – photography
Laurie Brown – hand blown glass vases, bowls, and pendants
Mary Lou Bailey – hand built pottery
Barbara Watson – hand thrown pottery
Sammy Clark – pottery
Beth Wicker – hand made jewelry as well as mixed media fiber and silk paintings
Theresa Truett Rogol – hand made beaded jewelry
Patrick Showalter - hand made soaps
Dianna Herrera-Keller – custom hand made jewelry.
“Our artists are from the local area and are coming in as far away as Minneapolis, Minn.,” Atkinson said. “This is truly an event you do not want to miss. How often do you get to preview so many artist work in one place and do not have to drive 2 or 3 hours out of town to do so? We are so fortunate in Hartsville to have a community that is so well diversified. We might be a small town but we have a metropolitan twist and ain’t that grand!”
