The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs and the Florence County Library System have teamed up to hold a "Teens & Money Essay Contest" open to all Florence County High School Students in public and private schools. Five winners will be chosen and each will receive a medal and a $100 savings bond.
To enter, students must visit the library’s web page at www.florencelibrary.org, select the Teens & Money Essay Contest link, choose a featured lesson and write about how they will apply what they have learned to their daily lives in a brief 500- to 750-word essay. Essays must be postmarked on or before Feb.15 and sent to the address listed on the Teens & Money Essay Contest page. Awards will be presented during National Consumer Protection Week in March 2012 and winning essayists will be notified at least two weeks in advance. Further details are available at the library’s web site.
The essay contest and related financial literacy programs and resources are made possible by a grant from Smart investing@your library®, a partnership between the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association.
