Assistant principal of South Pointe High School Denise Khaalid, was named a finalist for the 2012 National Assistant Principal of the Year.
Khaalid oversees community and parent partnerships at South Pointe as well as coordinates the school’s dual-credit and High Schools That Work programs. The South Carolina Association of School Administrators named Khaalid the 2012 Assistant Principal of the Year for the state.
The award is given by the National Association for Secondary School Principals and Virco, a company that manufactures furniture and equipment for K-12 schools.
Each finalist for the national honor receives $1,500 and the winner will receive $5,000 for personal professional development or for a school improvement project.
