A New Mexico man on the run from the law was taken into custody Thursday night by Marion County drug agents, Marion County Sheriff's deputies and deputy US Marshals.
Moses Sparks, 25, waived extradition to New Mexico at a hearing Friday, an official with the Marion County Detention Center said.
Sparks was charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual penetration and aggravated battery on a household member following a Sept. 4 incident at an Albuquerque, NM, residence, according to a story posted online by the Albuquerque Journal.
Deputy Marshal Frank Conroy said Sparks was reported to have been in several different states before investigators received good information that was at a mobile home park in Mullins.
Marion County drug agents placed the mobile home under surveillance and were able to confirm Sparks was there.
Thursday night Sparks tried to run as arrest team members approached the mobile home but ended up in custody along with his girlfriend who was the victim in the September incident, Conroy said.
She was charged with harboring a fugitive, he said.
Sparks and the victim were staying with friends who apparently didn't know of the New Mexico charges, Conroy said.
