An apparent standoff at a Marion trailer park ended Friday about 2 p.m. when the Marion County Emergency Response Team made entry to one of the trailers.
Marion Police Chief Jim Gray said communications officers received a 911 call about noon to report a women was being held against her will in a mobile home at Thomas Mobile Home Village and has been told by the suspect that if she tried to leave he would shoot her.
Gray said Lt. Keith McNeil responded, approached the door and identified himself as a Marion Police officer.
At that point, David Archie Shelly, 64, of Marion, told McNeil he would shoot him if he tried to approach the door, Gray said.
Officers negotiated with Shelly for two hours by phone and public address system.
About 2 p.m. officers heard a bang that sounded like a small-caliber weapon fire, Gray said.
Marion County ERT members made entry into the residence, deployed three flash-bang grenades and ended the situation without injury, Gray said.
What officers took to be gunfire may have been Shelly trying to throw a cell phone out of the mobile home's back window, the chief said.
Shelly is being held by police for threatening a police officer at this time, Gray said.
Marion County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
