Florence man charged with attempted murder

FLORENCE, SC --

Police arrested a Florence man following a stabbing incident at a South Dargan Street apartment complex.

William Fisher, 59, 730 South Dargan Street, is charged with one count of attempted murder, according to the Florence County Detention Center's Web site.

Officers arrested him after the victim, who was in the the complex's office, told officers the suspect entered the office about 12:20 a.m., asked the victim if he had any family in the area and attacked him with a knife , Maj. Carlos Raines, Florence Police Department, said.

The victim was able to eventually take the knife from the suspect and flagged down a passing cruiser on South Dargan Street, Raines said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Fisher was treated and released from an area hospital, Raines said.

Fisher, who was taken into custody without further incident, told investigators he had no memory of the attack, Raines said.

Fisher remains in custody at the Florence County Detention Center.
