Francis Marion University selected Dr. Katherine Jackson as the 2012 Morgan B. Coker School of Business Outstanding Alumnus Award recipient.
Jackson, who is the associate dean of the school of business at FMU, was presented the award during a breakfast celebration on Feb. 17.
Before coming to FMU, Jackson was associate dean at the school of management at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and was the assistant dean at the school of business at Indiana University. She also served as director of graduate business programs while at Indiana University.
Jackson received her bachelor’s in business administration from Francis Marion University and her Ph.D. in finance from the University of South Carolina.
Jackson has authored numerous articles as well as a finance textbook that incorporates collaborative learning techniques. She has given presentations about how to use collaborative learning in business education and hosted workshops on financial analysis to non-financial executives at several major Midwest corporations. She was previously a member of the board of directors of the Economics Club of Michiana and the Financial Executives’ Institute. Her research interests include index investing and exchange traded funds.
