FLORENCE, SC -- Nine adults and one juvenile were arrested while an 11th person escaped early Saturday morning after police who responded to a noise complaint broke up a West Cedar Street party.

Officers responded at 3 a.m. to 406 West Cedar Street, Apt. B, and could hear the party from the building's front yard, Maj. Carlos Raines, Florence Police Department public information officer, said.

Officers could see lights on in the apartment, had to step over beer cans on the stairs to the apartment, heard a lot of movement in the apartment and saw the lights turned out just prior to their knocking on the door, Raines said.

After officers entered the apartment they talked with three people in the kitchen and received permission to search the apartment. They found the others hiding in closets and bathtubs, Raines said.
