The Greater Mullins Chamber of Commerce will be holding their Third Annual Legislative Breakfast on Monday, Feb. 13 at 8 a.m. at the Mullins First Baptist Fellowship Hall, located at 303 N. Main Street in Mullins.
All four of the area’s legislators including: Sen. Kent Williams, Rep. Jim Battle, Sen. Dick Elliott and Rep. Terry Alexander will be on hand to provide updates of what issues are being addressed this year in Columbia. They each provide their point of views along with response from community.
“This is an opportunity to go face to face with our representatives. It is a chance to see, speak and be explained what issues that are going and not have to hear it in the news,” Chamber President Rick Fowler said.
Chamber Board Member Frank Jones said there are many issues facing our elected officials today and the community needs to show their support for their dedication and commitment.
“This event is excellent time for interaction with each of them expressing our individual views, while hearing about the challenge and opportunities facing our community and state,” Jones said.
Chamber Board Member Neal Fairbanks said the Legislative Breakfast is a unique opportunity for the local citizens to come listen to their own elected officials and receive an in person update as to what the current agenda is in the Statehouse and how that affects everyone in Mullins and Marion County.
“Having them here in one place at the same time, and the ability for us to participate in a short question and answer discussion with them in such a convenient setting makes for an informative session, particularly with 2012 being an election year,” Fairbanks said.
