The City of Hartsville received sixty-five trees through the efforts of Senator Gerald Malloy and the 2012 Palmetto Pride Tree Grant. These trees, which vary from four to six feet in height, include crepe myrtles, dogwoods, Leyland cypresses, red maples, and weeping willows, and will be used to beautify common green space areas around the city.

Members of Boy Scout Pack 523 planted some of these trees in Byerly Park, Wednesday.

City Arborist Stephen Wild was present to teach the scouts how to properly plant and care for trees. Senator Malloy also assisted with the process.
