Amtrak train crash in Cheraw kills 2 people

CHERAW, S.C. - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that involved a train and claimed two lives in Cheraw on Monday.

The vehicle involved in the wreck belonged to the city of Cheraw, according to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins. The two people killed were Barney Driggers and Glen Locklear, according to the Chesterfield County Coroner's Office.

According to the SCHP website, the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. in the city limits at Market Street and 3rd Street.

Officials at the scene said an Amtrak passenger train collided with a vehicle.  

No one aboard the train was injured.
