The Spring Beauty Garden Club sponsored two Hartsville youths, allowing them to attend Camp Wildwood this summer.
Thomas Chapman and Land Folsom attended the camp, located at Kings Mountain State Park, June 19-25.
Camp Wildwood, a hands-on, outdoor environmental camp, provides student in the tenth-12th grade with “the knowledge and appreciation needed to protect and wisely use our natural resources,” according to the Department of Natural Resources website.
Camp activities included instruction in fisheries, forestry, firearm safety, first aid, and other topics as well as classes conducted by professional resource staff members. Campers have an opportunity to participate in outdoor sports such as softball, swimming and volleyball.
Camp Wildwood is sponsored by the South Carolina Wildlife Federation, Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, South Carolina State Parks, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources and the Garden Club of South Carolina Inc, of which Spring Beauty Garden Club is a member.
Chapman and Folsom will speak to the Spring Beauty Garden Club at their October meeting to share their camp experiences.
