The Florence Fire Department was dispatched to two separate working structure fires within eight minutes of each other.
At 9:19 a.m., Stations 1, 2, 4 and 1 Command Staff vehicle responded to the 800 Block of N. Dargan St. for a structure fire.
When they arrived the crews noted heavy smoke and flame coming from the rear of the building. Attack lines were pulled and advanced into the kitchen area. The fire was knocked down and under control in about thirty minutes.
Approximately eight minutes later at 9:27 a.m., Engines 131 and 151 were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1000 block of W. Palmetto St. Upon arrival crews confirmed a working structure fire.
After forcing entry into the residence firefighters were met with heavy smoke conditions. They advanced a hose line to an interior hallway and closet area and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire was under control in about fifteen minutes.
There were no injuries reported at either fire. Both residents are being assisted by the Pee Dee Area Chapter of the Red Cross. The fire department was assisted by the Florence Police Department and Florence County EMS.
No causes have yet been determined for either fire.
