The Track Too Tough to tame and the US Marine Corps will team up Saturday to raise money and collect toys to make Christmas a bit better for those less fortunate.
For the second year, Darlington Raceway and the Corps Toys for Tots Foundation will offer those who donate a new, unwrapped toy, or a $20 donation, a chance to take a pace lap on the track in their personal car.
This year’s event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the raceway infield. Donation boxes for the event can also be found at the Darlington Raceway Pitshop and Museum and Darlington Raceway Ticket Office through Friday.
“We are looking forward to partnering with the USMC Toys for Tots Foundation again this year.” Darlington Raceway President Chris Browning said. “It is great to see the community come together in support of such a great cause.”
The inaugural Darlington Raceway Toys for Tots Toy Drive was a spectacular success. More than $12,000 in cash and toys were donated at last year’s event and about 250 vehicles turned laps around the historic oval.
