SOPAKCO announces layoffs at Pee Dee plants

»  Comments | Post a Comment

SOPAKCO announced Friday it will have a reduction of work force in both its Mullins and Bennettsville plants, according to a press release.

SOPAKCO president Lonnie Thompson would only say the company is “in process of releasing people.” At this time the number being laid off is unknown.

The reduction is because of a substantial decrease in demand for production.

SOPAKCO has made a concerted effort to save as many jobs as possible in both facilities and is dedicated to continuing its great affiliation with the people of the Pee Dee in moving forward with future operations, according to the release.
