MURRELLS INLET, SC --

Former Horry County Council chair and SC Parks, Recreation and Tourism director Chad Prosser has announced his candidacy for the new 7th Congressional district seat.

The Murrells Inlet resident will run as a Republican. Prosser is currently a partner of Prosser Johnson, LLC.

Prosser will run on a platform of being a job creator and conservative reformer according to his web site.

This brings the total number of Republican candidates in the race to nine. Four Democrats have also announced their candidacy.
