Suspect arrested in Horry County homicide case, GPS helped police

CONWAY, SC - A Longs man charged with murder in connection with Thursday's homicide in Horry County.

According to a press release, Jamar Hashawn Wilson, 21, is being held at J Reuben Long Detention Center in connection with yesterday's shooting on J.C. Lane in Longs around 3:50 p.m.

Police located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.  The victim was transported to a local hospital by Horry County Fire Rescue; where he was pronounced dead. 

Detectives were able to identify one person as of now in connection with the incident. 

It was also determined that Wilson was wearing a GPS bracelet as part of a condition of bond stemming from a previous charge. 

Detectives were able to verify that Wilson was on the scene at the time of the shooting as well as track him to his current location. 

Detectives responded to the suspect’s house in Longs and took him into custody without incident. 

This case is still active with additional arrests possible.  Detectives are still working on a motive for the incident.
