CONWAY, SC - Coastal Carolina University’s Women in Philanthropy and Leadership is hosting a one-day session called "Take Your Seat" on Saturday, Oct. 15, to teach women how to conduct effective political campaigns. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Wall Auditorium on campus.
The Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics will conduct the training program that aims to motivate more women to run for office at all levels of government. South Carolina trails the nation in electing women to public office and has the only single-gender legislative chamber in the U.S.
Session topics include:
* Campaign Management
* Fundraising
* Grass Roots Organization
* The Internet and Social Media
* Creating and Managing Your Message
All trainers are seasoned campaign professionals with multiple years of experience. Their thorough knowledge of the obstacles female candidates face and of effective ways to overcome those challenges makes the Institute's training particularly practical for women. The workshop is intended for candidates, prospective candidates, advancing candidates and people who want to become more actively involved in politics.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with sessions from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During a panel discussion at lunch, women who have run for office will describe their personal experiences of the campaign process. Wall Auditorium is located in CCU’s E. Craig Wall, Sr. College of Business at 119 East Chanticleer Drive in Conway.
Tickets for the campaign school are $50 ($35 for students with ID) and must be purchased in advance.
