A new commenting system is coming to SCNow.com in an effort to improve experience for our users and allow easier sharing with friends. To comment on an article with the new system, you must log in to Facebook. You can then choose to share the comment with your friends.

Will I need to have a Facebook account to comment?

Yes, if you want to comment directly on a story, video or other people's comments on the website. If you don't have a Facebook account, you can get one at Facebook.com. Signing up for an account is quick, easy and free.

What are the benefits to me?

You'll have one less username and password to remember since you'll log in with Facebook. You also will be able include your Facebook friends in the discussion if you choose.

Will my friends on Facebook see my article comments?

This is optional. Your comments will be posted on your Facebook wall and be visible to your friends if you leave the "Post my comment to my Facebook profile" box checked next to the "Post" button.

Will people be able visit my Facebook profile from my article comment?

Yes, but what they see on your profile is determined by your Facebook privacy settings. These settings allow you to decide how much information you want to share with your friends or others. Learn more about privacy settings in Facebook's privacy guide.

What if I don't want to use my real name or don't want a Facebook account?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to post comments on the site. However, you can send feedback to the author on most stories and videos by clicking on the reporter's name in the byline.

Do you only want positive comments?

No, we encourage discussion and welcome diverse opinions. But please respect others. Comments that use offensive, vulgar, or hateful language will be removed. View our Terms and Conditions.

Will your terms and conditions still apply?

Yes, use of the website, including use of Facebook comments, is conditional upon your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions.

Will SCNow.com be moderating these comments?

Yes, we will remove comments that use offensive, vulgar, or hateful language. We will ban commenters that use a fake Facebook account/name to comment or repeatedly violate our Terms and Conditions. Facebook also may moderate comments and may remove inappropriate comments and/or close associated Facebook accounts.

How do I report an inappropriate comment?

Click on the "X" in the upper right corner of the comment box. Choose from the two options displayed: 'Mark as Spam," or "Report as Abuse."

How do I report a fake Facebook account?

It is a violation of Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities to use false personal information to create a Facebook account. You may report a fake profile by clicking the "Report/Block this Person" link in the bottom left column of the profile, selecting "Fake profile" as the reason, and adding the appropriate information.

Why are you switching to Facebook commenting?

The new system creates accountability by linking comments to Facebook accounts. Comments become more civil and more informative when a person is easily identifiable with a name and face attached to a comment. We also want more people join the conversation and the easier social sharing will encourage more interaction.

Where can I see Facebook commenting in action?

Facebook comments are used on many sites, including WSLS.com, Tricites.com, NBC17.com, NewsAdvance.com and GoDanRiver.com.

When will the change take place?

Facebook commenting will launch on SCNow.com on Tuesday, July 5th.
