Valentine’s Day is Tuesday, which means people look to plan surprises for their sweetheart.
Many businesses plan ahead for the holiday, in case some people need to shop last-minute.
"People usually always seem to give us only about one day ahead of time," said Kelly Hoagland, owner of The Little Shop of Flowers in Myrtle Beach. “It’s kind of a last-minute holiday for a lot of guys,” she said.
Flowers are a Day of Love staple, so Hoagland plans to keep her shop fully staffed Monday and Tuesday to take as many orders as possible.
"All of the phones will be manned by employees. We have extra drivers coming in, and all we can do … is be prepared,” said Hoagland.
Croissants Bistro and Bakery in Myrtle Beach also prepares for plenty of last-minute business.
Chefs offer a Valentine's menu Monday and Tuesday. They’re also stocked up on baked goods for those who want to make a sweet impression.
"It is comfort food. It's what you're looking for that time of year. It's the chocolate, it's the sweets,” said Brad Daniels, the restaurant’s executive chef. “It's a cliché, but it's a cliché for a reason,” he said.
For those who want to take their romance to new heights, the Myrtle Beach Skywheel plans for their first Valentine’s celebration.
"This is the only observation wheel of its kind in the United States, so for Valentine's, we're going to have it lit up in true Valentine's colors with our million L.E.D lights," said Tom Lorenz, marketing director with the Myrtle Beach Skywheel.
Folks can also check their local newspapers for last-minute ideas, as many businesses advertise Valentine’s Day specials.
