Robeson County jail lands $250,000 grant

»  Comments | Post a Comment

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre (D-NC) recently announced that the Robeson County Detention Center will receive $250,000 in federal funds to make much needed improvements.

This investment will create jobs and also help protect against job cuts in the county’s budget.

“Making improvements at our county jail will save jobs, create jobs, and provide a more secure environment for our community.  We must continue to do all we can to ensure that our infrastructure is sound, solid, and safe.  These are your taxpaying dollars coming home to work for you,” McIntyre said

McIntyre was joined by the Under Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, Dallas Tonsagar, in making this announcement in Bladenboro on Monday.

These federal funds, appropriated by the United States Congress and obligated by the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, will be given to the Lumbee River EMC revolving loan fund and then given to Robeson County.

McIntyre is a senior member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee.
