A veterinarian in Pawleys Island works to ease his patients' pain through stem cell therapy.

Monday, he worked on Beau, a 13-year-old Labrador mix. He suffers from arthritis pain.

Dr. Noel Berger, owner of Animal Hospital and Laser Center of South Carolina, performed a stem cell treatment on the dog.

This is the first time Dr. Berger has performed this type of treatment at his hospital.

The doctor uses MediVet-America technology to remove fat tissue from the animal and inject the stem cells into the affected areas.

The treatment basically eases the animal's pain in a more natural way.

“We're not using any drugs. We're not using any strange medications. We're not using any foreign materials that Beau could potentially react to,” said Dr. Berger. “We're using Beau's self, [and] his own tissue to reverse the pain and inflammation that he's experiencing.”

Beau will have a check up every 30, 60, and 90 days to check his progress.
