Publisher Rand McNally and USA Today are have partnered up to launch “Best of the Road” campaign in search of the best small towns in America. Rand McNally and USA Today are going to select 20 towns, based on customer reviews in five categories, to be stops on their three-week road rally in June 2011.
Myrtle Beach, S.C., has the opportunity to make this list in one of five categories: Most Beautiful, Most Patriotic, Most Fun, Friendliest and Best for Food, but first needs to earn the highest number of votes in one of the five categories. The best town in each category will be featured in Rand McNally’s atlases, maps and GPS units; on the USA TODAY travel web site as well as in a national media promotion.
“This is our chance to show a national audience why our community truly shines and deserves to be one of the ‘best of the road,’” said Scott Schult, Executive Vice President of Marketing for the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, “We need the support of our both our visitors and locals to show Rand McNally and USA Today why they should make Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, one of their stops this June.”
