RUBY, SC -- Chesterfield County Coroner's Office and Emergency Management Agency are investigating a lightning strike Tuesday evening that killed on person and injured a second.

Coroner Kip Kiser's office identified the victim as Michael Gulledge, 26, of Ruby. An official said the office didn't have the hospital or sheriff's office reports yet they would need to speak further on the death.

There was apparently a game being played on a field across from Ruby Elementary School between 7-7:30 p.m. when a lightning strike killed a man and injured a child, Harold Haney, Chesterfield County Emergency Management Agency director, said.

A county official said Wednesday afternoon the gathering was just an informal group of about five people and not any organized event.
