CONWAY - A Horry County Police officer was arrested early Monday morning and charged with criminal domestic violence.

According to a police report, John Gonska, 39, got into a verbal argument Sunday night around 10:30 p.m. with his live-in girlfriend about what they would do after the Super Bowl

The victim told police Gonska twisted her arm behind her, hurting her thumb and later punched her in the mouth.

The victim stated that Gonska also pushed her into the couch in their living room and pinned her down.

She told police she screamed for her son to come help and Gonska let her up and walked outside.

She then called 911.

When officers arrived, they noticed the victim had blood on her shirt and face.

Officers arrested Gonska and transported him to J Reuben Long Detention Center.

Sgt. Robert Kegler said Gonska has been with the department for 6 years and is currently suspended.
